The theme of the Conference:
This International conference is aimed to create a global interconnectedness between people seeking solutions for their problems. This international conference is aimed to promote the resilience approach as opposed to meeting deficits.
We don’t intend asking at this conference What problems do we have? Instead we ask What strengths do we have which allowed us to remain resilient despite the challenges we face? We asked this question a few years ago on September 11. We asked this question when Tsunami sent its waves into a number of Asian Countries and devastated a number of coastal populations.
We ask this question each day, when landslides occur in one part of the world, when floods ravage, when droughts hit the last fauna and for a moment we may see a flying bird feebly drop dead. Just for that moment we may be lost. We collect our wits and life goes on.
Unprecedented global transformations have occurred in the last two decades of the last century. Some societies are still reeling in their aftermath. People asking for peace seem to be outnumbering those who want a war. There is a true global hunger for principal leadership and collective wisdom that can actively re-engage individuals, groups, and communities, in our societies.
The search is on for strength based practices at local, national and global levels: Things that are working and things that worked.
The International Conference being held in a pleasant winter of the Deccan Plateau in India, in November of 2006 is interested in hearing strength based accounts of projects and programs, methodologies, styles and practices and results in most cases.
The Conference is interested in hearing to strength based methodologies that are transportable from one geographical space to another. The International Conference in Hyderabad, India will have keynotes from highly experienced leaders in strength based practice.
